DAY OF SILENCE :D
Hello Everyone! I’d like to inform you all that this Friday, April 19th is Day of Silence!
For those of you who do not know, “The Day of Silence is a student-led national event that brings attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools. Students from middle school to college take a vow of silence in an effort to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem of anti-LGBT behavior by illustrating the silencing effect of bullying and harassment on LGBT students and those perceived to be LGBT.”
For SCHS students (or anyone who can make it to SCHS in the morning)! Anyone who would like to support can come to the senior benches (at SCHS!) this Friday morning before first period (anywhere from 7 to 7:30). GSA members will be handing out tape to put over our mouths as a reminder to ourselves & others of the cause we are trying to promote. Also, this Friday is a Wednesday schedule due to STAR testing, so we will be meeting in the quad that same day after 6th period to “break the silence”
Even if you are not a member of SCHS or in a GSA, you are more than welcome to participate in Day of Silence! It is a national event & the more the merrier!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or refer to this website: http://www.dayofsilence.org/
